Samsung to launch Gear S2, Gear VR in India this month


According to a new report, the Samsung Gear S2 Tizen OS powered smartwatch is expected to launch in India this month,. The wearable device was unveiled at the end of August 2015 ahead of the year's IFA show, and went on sale in the US a couple of months later.


Now, Samsung seems all set to bring the Gear S2smartwatch. One of the USPs of the Gear S2 smartwatch is its circular design and rotating bezel. To jump between the menus, apps and features, users can touch gestures or rotate the bezel.


Powered by Tizen OS, the Gear S2 comes in two different variants namely Gear S2 and Gear S2 classic. The Gear S2 comes with silicon belt, the Gear S2 classic comes with a more timeless watch design with leather belt. The Gear S2 also has a 3G variant, which comes with a SIM card slot within.


Samsung smartwatches boast of IP68 water-and-dust resistant certifications, health-kit apps like heart-rate sensor, S Health Nike+Running and also feature NFC, Wi-Fi based connectivity features, Bluetooth v4.1.


Gear VRheadset is set to release for price around Rs 10,000. Gear VRheadset is compatible with top-end flagship phablets such as Galaxy Note 5, Note 4 and S6 Edge+ .


The report comes just a day after Samsung announced that it will launch the dual SIM variant of the Galaxy Note 5 smartphone in India on January 17, which is yesterday.


However, the report contained no information on the exact launch date as well as the official price at which the smartwatch will be available in India. Also not revealed was whether or not all variants of the device will be available for purchase in the country.
