The Indian Government, which recognized the priority of agriculture education, has appointed the 'University Education Commission' headed by leading academic doctor Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. The Commission has recommended the creation of self-regulated rural universities in the form of Land Grants in the United States. Consequently, the Government is the first agricultural university in the country - GBPat University of Agriculture and Technology has been set up in Pantnagar (Udham Singh Nagar district) in Uttarakhand.

The Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University was established in 1964 for the overall development of agriculture and its allied sectors such as dairy and horticultural industries. In 1996, it was transferred to Acharya NG.Kara Agricultural University. The University of Agricultural Courses

In 2007, Dr. YSR was awarded with the necessary expertise in these fields. The government started the Horticulture University.

The Indian Agricultural Research Board, New Delhi, has been entering an all-India examination to fill 100 per cent seats at the National Dairy Resource Institute in Karnal, 15 per cent of the agricultural universities across the country. Degree courses accessible through the entrance examination conducted by this council.
