Apple’s Upcoming Products in 2016: Apple Watch 2, iPhone 6c, iPhone 7, Macbooks and More

2015 was the Apple’s most profitable year to-date, and also a number of Apple products and services were uncharacteristically criticized for failing to live up to Apple’s traditional standard of excellence.
So while Apple doesn’t seem to enter any new product categories in 2016, is once again poised to have a busy year, with a number of new products set to be released over the next 12 months. To give you an idea of what Apple has in store, a list of the major new Apple products is compiled that will likely show up on store shelves in 2016.

iPhone 6c

Strong rumors are that a new 4-inch iPhone could be unveiled at the March event. Apple has also been rumored to be working on an upgraded 4-inch "iPhone 6c" for customers preferring smaller screens to be launched during the first months of 2016. Additionally, with a blazing A9 processor, the iPhone 6c may also come with 2GB RAM, a slightly larger battery than what Apple used in the iPhone 5s, a metal frame construction, and lastly, support for Apple Pay. Indeed, 3D Touch is probably the only flagship feature the iPhone 6c will lack.

iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will come at the end of 2016, likely to make debut in September in line with past iPhone launches. These two iPhone models will incorporate the same 4.7 and 5.5-inch form factors currently found on Apple’s iPhone 6s lineup. When comes to specs, the iPhone 7 may incorporate a number of interesting changes like ultra thin chassis, wireless charging and, potentially, water and dust-proofing as well as improved specs and imaging technology.

iOS 10 and OS X 10.12

To go along with that new iPhone 7 will be iOS 10 and OS X 10.12 to release in Late 2016. There’ve been no rumours over major new features iOS 10 will sport, but that should change soon. Also, expect the new version of OS X to ship alongside with it.

El Capitan was an updated design to introduce bug fixes and build on the features that debuted with OS X 10.10 Yosemite, so it's likely OS X 10.12 will be a bigger standalone update that includes design tweaks and new features.

Apple Watch 2

Apple is expected to release its next-gen Apple Watch during the March event. Rumors say that Apple Watch 2 will include sensors that were nixed from the first version, including skin conductivity, blood oxygen level, and blood pressure. The device may be thinner than the first Apple Watch, and it could include features like a FaceTime camera to allow Apple Watch users to make and receive FaceTime calls and an upgraded Wi-Fi chip that may allow the Apple Watch to do more without an iPhone.

iPad Air 3

Recent rumors have suggested that Apple is developing an iPad Air 3 to be launched during the first half of 2016, most likely at the March event. The iPad Air was one of the only devices Apple didn’t update in 2015. Some of the early iPad Air 3 rumors suggest that the next-gen device may sport a 4K display, an A9x processor, and a slight RAM bump.

MacBook Air

Latest rumours suggest that Apple will continue producing the MacBook Air, with plans to launch 13 and 15-inch MacBook Air models during the Q3 of 2016. There have been speculations that the MacBook line will subsume the MacBook Air line as component prices decrease, but some recent rumors have led to hope that the MacBook Air will continue to exist alongside the Retina MacBook and the Retina MacBook Pro, offering a compromise between performance, cost and portability,. Perhaps the most interesting rumour regarding Apple’s alleged 2016 MacBook Air is that the company will introduce a 15-inch Air model for the first time.
